Bip Services is a Honduran company known for its innovative food-delivery app, Bip Bip. With a focus on end-to-end solutions, the platform connects customers, couriers, and restaurants, providing an efficient and reliable service in the Central American market.
In 2024, the company launched its modernization project to improve Bip Bip's technology infrastructure. This process involved a strategic collaboration with CIT, its development provider, and the support of IVCISA as a specialized AWS partner, focused on optimizing operations and preparing the platform for new demands.
This new stage reflects how Bip Services has leveraged technology to transform its delivery service. Through joint efforts, significant advances were achieved that drive not only the user experience but also the company's sustainable growth.
Bip Bip's main challenge was to modernize the technology infrastructure for version 2 of its app, initially launched in 2021. This project involved not only a significant change in the interface, but also a comprehensive update of the underlying systems, which until then ran on an infrastructure based on EC2 and SQL RDS.
The scope of Bip Bip as a complete food-delivery solution—including apps for customers, couriers, and restaurants, plus a robust administrative system—demanded a more modern infrastructure.
That is how, in collaboration with IVCISA, the modernization project began, with the goal of meeting the organization's need to manage the platform more efficiently, follow best practices, and reduce operating costs.
“From the start, we knew this change was essential to ensure Bip Bip's sustainable growth,” said Gabriela Guerrero, IT Manager at CIT. “We knew the challenges we faced with version 1 well, and we worked alongside IVCISA to implement the best solutions to meet current and future needs.”
“When we presented IVCISA with the need or requirement, the team supported us right away; we drew up the infrastructure diagrams, validated them, and built everything together. It all went really well.”
The project achieved a significant transformation in Bip Bip's infrastructure, improving scalability and reducing response times. This translated into a more efficient service for customers and greater operational capacity for restaurants and couriers.
On the technical side, tools such as Elastic Containers and API Gateway were implemented, optimizing the app's performance and security, along with AWS Lambda to drive rapid vertical scaling and scale down to zero when there is no demand. These changes allowed the company to adopt more modern practices, enabling more agile and effective management.
The collaborative work between Bip Services and IVCISA resulted in a more robust platform, ready to handle demand spikes. In addition, significant savings in operating costs were achieved, reinforcing the focus on business sustainability.
Looking ahead, Bip Bip aims to explore additional benefits in its infrastructure, such as reserving AWS resources. These steps are part of a strategy to keep innovating and lead the food-delivery market in the region.
Among the solutions Bip Bip uses are:
“Since we already had our infrastructure set up on AWS, modernizing the resources and services wasn't disruptive—quite the opposite, it was very seamless with IVCISA.”
