Ricardo Pérez, S.A. is a Panamanian company with more than 60 years of experience in the automotive sector, recognized for its leadership, innovation, and commitment to mobility in Panama.
Founded in 1956 by Ricardo Pérez García, the company began by exclusively distributing the Toyota brand, consolidating its presence in the automotive market and expanding its portfolio with the addition of Lexus and Hino. But the group's history dates back to 1946, when Ricardo Pérez García also represented the Land Rover brand and sold agricultural vehicles and parts in the province of Chiriquí.
Over the years, the company diversified its operations, including the creation of Petrolera Nacional, S.A., the first petroleum company with Panamanian capital, which established a national network of service stations under the ACCEL brand.
Today, Ricardo Pérez, S.A. operates 8 new-car sales branches, one certified-used-car branch, 10 in-house workshops and mobile workshops, and manages complex logistics operations nationwide.
Ricardo Pérez, S.A. faced a growing challenge in data management due to the fragmentation of the company's key information. The company accumulated large volumes of data from various sources and lacked an effective integration that would turn it into useful information for decision-making.
This lack of centralization affected its strategic-analysis capacity. Generating reports required an effort that took several days, which limited the company's ability to respond to market changes and business opportunities. In addition, it faced challenges managing historical data in its ERP and needed a robust architecture that would serve as a “single source of truth.”
Motivated by the need to improve its data management, Ricardo Pérez, S.A. began the project, alongside IVCISA as an AWS Advanced Partner, to implement a Data Lake that would integrate the different data sources, improve real-time access to information, and optimize the analysis and report-generation processes.
Before implementing the Data Lake with IVCISA, Ricardo Pérez, S.A. faced significant challenges that affected the fast, efficient management of its information. One of the main challenges was the lack of data centralization. The company's key information was scattered across multiple systems, which complicated integration and slowed analysis processes. Data fragmentation prevented a consolidated view of the business, limiting its evaluation capacity and informed decision-making.
Another challenge was managing historical data in the ERP, since the company had trouble storing, accessing, and analyzing it, restricting its ability to track business performance in detail over time.
In addition, the lack of a functional orchestrator complicated the integration of new data sources, creating bottlenecks and slowing the flow of information.
Taking these challenges into account, Ricardo Pérez, S.A. decided to implement an AWS cloud-based solution, guided by IVCISA's expert team.
“The IVCISA team is professional, dedicated, and highly specialized,
focused on generating value and solving business problems.”
Thanks to the collaboration with IVCISA and the use of advanced AWS services,
Ricardo Pérez, S.A. achieved a significant transformation in the management of its
data. As Miguel Baltodano Muñiz, Vice President of
Strategy & Transformation at Ricardo Pérez, S.A., notes, the company achieved
real-time availability of business information, maximizing
report generation and analysis.
Key benefits obtained:
- Scalability and Flexibility: The cloud infrastructure allows growth
without physical limits.
- Optimized Performance: Processes that used to take days now
run in real time.
- Cost Efficiency: A pay-as-you-go model that
minimizes operating expenses.
- Improved Decision-Making: Immediate access to critical data.
Among the solutions applied in the project are:
“Implementing the project with IVCISA was a transparent, smooth process that has allowed us to advance the organization's data management exponentially.”
