Movilizando.me is a Mexican consulting and application-development company with more than 15 years of experience in the national and international market. Headquartered in Mexico City, it delivers solutions and services to clients throughout the country and across Central America.
Its flagship application tracks the field activities of company personnel through mobile apps, accessible from anywhere in the world with nothing more than internet access on the device.
Movilizando.me ran on leased infrastructure in a traditional data center, with its own on-premises equipment in Germany. As its service-delivery operations grew, its infrastructure was not designed to handle uncontrolled traffic spikes, and acquiring more infrastructure to grow the business was not financially viable.
After evaluating the challenges it faced, Movilizando.me focused its efforts on assessing the option of migrating its current workloads to AWS with IVCISA's support. As an AWS Partner, IVCISA performed a TCO analysis and a migration plan designed to minimize the impact on the production services of Movilizando.me's clients, which were hosted in an on-premises data center in Germany.
Today, after planning and executing the migration to the AWS cloud with IVCISA's support, Movilizando.me has completed the move of all its production server environments to AWS, using innovative services such as EC2 that give it agility and flexibility in computing workloads. By implementing load balancers together with Auto Scaling, it can mitigate and sustain its applications against unexpected traffic spikes on its mobile and web applications.
The company established a strategy to decouple database components using Amazon RDS and Aurora, and implemented more effective security practices with audit processes available to its clients using AWS Security Hub, AWS Config, and AWS CloudTrail.
Movilizando.me plans to grow its business and client base more rapidly because it can now focus more on the business, knowing that most of its services run on AWS with IVCISA's support. This lets its Infrastructure and Software Engineers concentrate on building more and better software for clients and innovating with serverless technology.
Movilizando.me has saved more than 44% on its infrastructure investment in just the first 6 months of its cloud journey. This is because it no longer needs to invest in additional servers; AWS's pay-as-you-go model lets it control its application traffic spikes without long-term capital outlays for infrastructure. Instead, it rents cloud infrastructure by the minute or hour, only when its applications receive traffic for short, non-continuous periods. With 24x7 infrastructure provisioning and the savings plan from AWS Reserved Instances, the company can reach close to 65% in server savings over the year, in line with a flexible, convertible usage commitment.
