HBS-Delli is a leading company in the food and beverage sector in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, offering food, beverages, supplies, and private-label brands for hotels, restaurants, industrial cafeterias, supermarkets, and the food industry in general.
HBS-Delli has a broad catalog of products and solutions that have made it a specialist in the HORECA and Retail channel for more than 25 years, serving as a strategic ally to both global market leaders and small and medium-sized establishments. Its products range from orange juices and horchatas to meat products, cold cuts, spirits, and bottled water, among many others.
Through retail channels, it offers consumers private-label products made to high standards of quality and hygiene.
In January 2020, HBS-Delli was in the midst of migrating its ERP, which led it to consider the advantages of having it in the cloud.
Through this analysis, the company concluded that, for security and availability reasons, the solution was to have the ERP in the cloud. That is how HBS-Delli began searching the market for the strategic cloud provider that would help it meet such an important requirement.
This is how IVCISA, an AWS Advanced Partner, was selected to begin the project of deploying HBS-Delli's new ERP using several Amazon Web Services (AWS) services.
For an organization with multiple business lines and services and a regional presence, it was imperative to have 24/7 availability of its services, allowing the greatest possible access to the information generated by its ERP, from anywhere and at any time. HBS-Delli's ERP has approximately 200 users, of which 53 are concurrent users.
According to Jorge Carrillo, Technology and Information Manager at HBS-Delli, another factor was cost: “We have the servers running 24/7, and everything in the cloud is billed for the time the servers are up. We need the servers to always be on, because our operation runs 24 hours.”
With this in mind, and after reviewing the various market offerings, the company concluded that IVCISA and AWS were the best alternative and met the parameters HBS-Delli was looking for in terms of availability, scalability, and savings,
Availability.
Security.
Savings on infrastructure and space costs.
“We chose IVCISA and AWS mainly because of support and cost—that's what caught our attention compared with the other options on the market.”
For HBS-Delli, achieving significant savings while keeping its operations available 24/7 are the main results obtained. Eliminating the inherent limitations of an on-premises model, where data and information reside in the company's physical facilities, was the viable alternative for HBS-Delli, which has multiple locations and runs diverse operations.
The continuous availability allowed ERP users to access their systems from any location, giving the company the ability to maintain its operations at all times.
For Jorge Carrillo, Technology and Information Manager at HBS-Delli, this availability is complemented by the option of backing up its systems in the AWS cloud, along with IVCISA's 24/7 security and support.
“Whatever we've asked of IVCISA, they've resolved super fast—all through a WhatsApp group and support tickets. They take care of everything the same day. Support's strong suit is response time.”
