TRANSFORMING BUSINESSES

Industry: Retail
Region:Honduras

Company history

Yalo Technologies is a company of Honduran origin that emerged as a response to the local needs of small and medium-sized businesses to efficiently manage their billing, ordering, and inventory processes.

With an innovative approach, Yalo developed its flagship solution, Yalo Cobro, an all-in-one point-of-sale software that allows businesses to manage their operations both in real time and offline—a key feature in the region.

This platform, accessible from mobile devices, tablets, and the web, has become a versatile option for sectors such as restaurants, retail, and professional services.

The idea behind Yalo Cobro was not only to meet its clients' operational needs but also to offer an intuitive experience. This model, which provides access to its features through a monthly subscription, includes customizable options such as staff management and inventory control, allowing it to stand out in the market.

Challenges

Handling large volumes of data.
Optimizing services.
Reducing costs.
Improving data security.
WHY THE CLOUD?

Yalo Technologies is a pioneering company that has transformed the way businesses manage their daily operations. Through its platform, Yalo Cobro, it has optimized billing, inventory, and ordering processes, giving its clients the ability to operate both online and offline.

Yalo Cobro's rapid growth brought new challenges, such as efficiently handling large volumes of data and the need to improve security and reduce operating costs. To address these challenges, Yalo and its developer CIT began an optimization process alongside IVCISA, as a specialized Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner.

Through this synergy, they not only achieved platform scaling but also ensured the security of their data and laid the foundation for sustainable growth and the development of new solutions.

Project objectives

Yalo Cobro's rapid growth brought the challenge of handling an increasing volume of data traffic on its platform, especially during peak demand hours. This caused saturation problems in its infrastructure, affecting the system's speed and responsiveness.

According to Gabriela Guerrero, IT Manager at CIT, in addition to the main challenge of growing user numbers, they needed to find more efficient and sustainable alternatives to reduce operating costs after the increase in resources driven by Yalo Cobro's traffic.

On top of this, another major challenge was ensuring security against external vulnerabilities, underscoring the need to implement more robust measures to maintain the platform's stability.

For Ms. Guerrero, achieving real-time data synchronization, handling the constant increase in information, and maintaining the platform's sustainability were among the most important issues identified by Yalo, which drove the decision to collaborate with IVCISA to optimize its AWS infrastructure.

“Scalability, cost reduction, and security were the
key points we managed to overcome thanks to IVCISA's support. Their
immediate responsiveness and expertise allowed us to
find practical, efficient solutions to keep growing.”

Results

With IVCISA's support, Yalo Technologies optimized the performance of its Yalo Cobro platform. The migration to Aurora PostgreSQL significantly improved response times and the ability to handle large volumes of data in real time, eliminating the saturation problems that affected operations during peak demand.

The addition of security tools such as AWS WAF and load balancers not only protected the platform from potential attacks, but these proactive measures also made the infrastructure more resilient and better able to face cyber threats effectively.

Likewise, since the database and the application were on a single server, best practices were implemented by separating the frontend and backend to allow client segregation and thereby achieve better scalability.

With these measures, Ms. Guerrero confirmed that the high availability, the ability to grow, and the scalability achieved were important results delivered successfully in collaboration with IVCISA, enabling a more efficient infrastructure and a direct impact on reducing operating costs.

Solutions Used

Some of the solutions they use are:

Amazon EC2
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR)
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
AWS Lambda
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)

“IVCISA has been a key strategic ally for us. Thanks to their experience, we have not only solved immediate problems but also planned for the long term with an
infrastructure that supports our growth and prepares us for new challenges.”
